Hole 1
“This sweeping right-to-left dog-leg hole requires a solid drive followed by a long iron or fairway wood for most, hopefully leaving no more than a short iron to the green, although the big hitters may try to reach in two. A pond set to the left of the fairway, approximately 150 yards from the green, may catch a wayward 2nd shot. The two-tiered green can be tricky, set as it is from right to left rather than the customary back to front.”
Hole 10
Hole 2
“The 2nd hole is a straight par 4. Out of bounds runs the length of the right hand side and mature trees can block out a wayward shot to the left. Perhaps the toughest approach shot on the course, with out-of-bounds within 10 yards of either side of the green. Tight greenside bunkers front left and right make the approach even more challenging.”
Hole 11
“The men’s 11th tee is set to create a slight left-to-right dog-leg par 5. ”
Hole 3
“Played as a medium length par 4 from both tees, this hole has out-of-bounds running the length of the right hand side. An accurate approach shot across the old millstream gully gives a birdie chance but beware the out-of-bounds over the seawall to the left of the green.”
Hole 12
Hole 4
“The 4th is played as a challenging par 4, straight hole. Aim to carry the mill stream gully with your tee shot to leave you in range of the green. Bunkers guard the contoured green to the front left and right. Take the opportunity to enjoy the river views from the seawall but don’t dwell on the out-of-bounds!”
Hole 13
“A challenging par 4. The men’s relocated 13th tee provides variety with a right-to-left dog-leg. ”
Hole 5
“Delightful par 3. The green is well guarded by the re-shaped, cavernous front bunker, with smaller sand traps to the left and right. Mature greenside trees and out-of-bounds lurking to the left; a real test for all abilities.”
Hole 14
"From the men’s 14th tee this hole can provide as stern a test as any par 3 in the area especially when the wind blows."
Hole 6
“A short to medium length par 4. A real links- style fairway with tricky undulations is bounded by four bunkers, two on each side, to capture the slightly wayward drive. In making this the Club’s feature hole, the pond and bank in front of the green have undergone extensive renovation and these now present a striking retaining stone wall which backs the hazard and guards the elevated green. The green itself slopes sharply back down towards the water. Be sure not to under-club here.”
Hole 15
“A medium length par 4, with an elevated tee. ”
Hole 7
“A medium length par 4 with a ditch running across the full width of the fairway at about 220 yards. Safe play is to lay up with anything from a fairway wood to a mid-iron, although the bigger hitters will be looking to grab the driver and carry the ditch from the tee. Bunkers guard the green to the left and right, while the green slopes gently down from back to front.”
Hole 16
Hole 8
“Running parallel to the seawall this hole requires an accurate tee shot to avoid the out of bounds left and the mature trees to the right. Three bunkers await about 30 yards short of the green on the right while another sand trap lurks greenside on the left. A tough par 3.”
Hole 17
“A real birdie chance. ”
Hole 9
“Teeing off next to the seawall and playing toward the Clubhouse, this right-to-left dogleg provides one of the most challenging tee shots on the course. Aim to carry the ditch and embankment on to the upper fairway but beware the 3 bunkers lurking on the right hand side of the fairway. Position is the key here. Then aim to carry the small ditch onto a well-guarded green with its narrow entrance and steep faced bunkers left and right.”
